Adding Guest Additions in VirtualBox (VB)

Because I can never remember how this works:

If the guest OS is Debian-based, then after logging into the guest OS, do the following in the guest OS:

  1. Open a terminal and type:
    1. sudo apt-get install build-essential module-assistant
    2. sudo m-a prepare
  2. In the VB window:
    1. click on Devices
    2. click on Insert Guest Additions CD image
  3. Mount that in the virtual machine, however it can be mounted
  4. Navigate to /media/cdrom, and
    1. sudo sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
  5. Reboot the machine and you should be able to use full screen
